Lead Chaperone, Talent Search 61 North
Essential Job Functions
Supervise and support regular chaperones in ensuring student safety, engagement, and participation
Act as the primary point of contact for overnight supervision and dorm-related concerns
Oversee camper check-ins, headcounts, and behavioral management strategies
Assist in planning and executing camp activities, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to schedules.
Communicate with program leadership student needs, safety issues, or other concerns
Enforce all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a secure experience for all participants
Handle emergency situations and ensure all safety protocols are followed
Chaperone educational and cultural activities/ field trips
Serve as a mentor to Talent Search participants
Other related duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- Candidate must be at least a college Junior with a GPA of 3.0
- Two (2) years’ experience working with at-risk/disadvantaged students
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Experience in youth leadership, camp coordination, or student mentoring, preferably in an educational or summer camp setting
- Strong decision-making, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to guide and support regular chaperones in fulfilling their responsibilities
- Ability to supervise, engage, and provide a safe and supportive environment for campers
- Ability to enforce camp rules, maintain discipline, and respond effectively to emergencies
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work with fellow chaperones, camp staff, and program director
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to oversee schedules and ensure smooth operations
- Flexibility, adaptability, and patience in managing daily camp activities and unexpected challenges
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures, behavior management strategies
