Essential Job Functions
Supervise and engage with campers during daily activities, meals, and free time
Serve as a residence hall assistant in assigned dormitories, ensuring campers adhere to curfews and dormitory rules
Assist in organizing and leading recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
Conduct headcounts and always maintain awareness of camper locations
Address minor conflicts and behavioral concerns, escalating issues to the Lead Chaperone as needed
Provide encouragement and support to campers, fostering a welcoming environment
Assist with logistical tasks such as meal supervision, activity setup, and cleanup
Enforce all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a secure experience for all participants
Chaperone educational and cultural activities/ field trips
Serve as a mentor to Talent Search participants
Other related duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- Candidate must be at least a rising Sophomore with a GPA of 3.0
- Two (2) years’ experience working with at-risk/disadvantaged students
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Experience working with Middle and high school students in an educational or camp setting
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate with camp staff and support campers
- Ability to supervise students, enforce rules, and maintain a positive camp environment
- Basic conflict resolution skills to address minor behavioral concerns
- Willingness to follow directions from camp leadership and assist with various duties
- Willingness to stay overnight in dorms and serve as a responsible mentor and supervisor for students
- Flexibility, adaptability, and patience in managing daily camp activities and unexpected challenges
