School Administrative Manager
Job Title: School Administrative Manager
Reports To: Building Principals
Supervises: All Elementary Associates/Para-Educators
Role: The School Administrator Manager (SAM) is responsible for overseeing the administrative and facilities management/operational responsibilities of a school site. The primary purpose of the School Administration Manager (SAM) is to enable the principal to function as the instructional leader in the school. The SAM will:
- Manage school activities, including supervision and evaluation of classified support personnel. (Para Educators)
- Manage student supervision in non-instructional areas of the school.
- Manage and coordinate certain special events.
- Manage student discipline and behavior management.
- Help the principal focus on instructional rather than managerial tasks.
Qualifications:
- An administrator certification is preferred. Must hold a current Iowa Teaching License and/or a current Iowa Administrator License and Evaluator Approval or have the ability to secure this administrative license.
- A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in teaching and/or school administration, as appropriate.
- Evidence of high attention to detail, patience, ability to work closely with people, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational and priority setting skills.
- Able to make difficult decisions with an understanding of the long term impact on the district.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Functions:
- Shares responsibility for student discipline and welfare, to include all necessary parent contact and correspondence, liaison with other helping agencies
- Support the vision and mission of the District as well as the building vision that sets high expectations for students and staff.
- Serves as district 504 coordinator
- Assists building principal with duties that may prevent them from fulfilling their chief responsibility of promoting and maintaining the educational well-being of each student in the school
- Responsible for attendance and truancy matters
- Articulates a student-centered school philosophy that promotes equity and high achievement
- Participate in collective decision-making with the building principal and leadership team.
- Ensures all students have adequate and appropriate opportunities to meet federal, state, and district standards
- Address issues, situations, problems and/or conflicts that could negatively impact the school.
- Relies on data to make teaching and learning decisions
- Designs and implements school improvement strategies
- Mandates professional development consistent with improvement strategies
- Evaluates certain classified staff and provides ongoing coaching for improvement through actionable feedback
- Develops the master para-educator schedule and any special assignments
- Buffers non-instructional issues from instructional staff
- Administers and enforces student welfare, conduct, safety, and health policies
- Serves as a liaison between the school and the community
- Fosters and maintains caring professional relationships with staff
- Maintains confidentiality in the school operation
- Collaborates with administrative groups at the AEA and state levels
- Connects students and families to services that support learning
- Other duties as assigned

Job performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of Board Policy.
