Summary
Charger Aquatics seeks an experienced, dynamic, and positive individual for the position of Head Age Group Coach & Senior Assistant. This position serves as the Head of the Age Group Division, overseeing all aspects of the 12 & under program, including curriculum development and standards enforcement. The individual will supervise all Age Group coaches and work in partnership with the Head Coach on all aspects of the program. Additionally, this role serves as a Senior Assistant with two senior groups and acts as the CAQ USA Swimming Team Registrar. This coach also serves as the assistant meet director and entry chair for all CAQ-hosted events. Strong candidates are attracted to our mission and see themselves as engaged community members.

Essential Functions
- Oversee all aspects of the Age Group Division to include leadership of at least one practice group of 20-30 swimmers.
- Supervise and manage the daily assignments and workload of up to five coaches within the Age Group Division.
- Responsible for all curriculum development and standards implementation for the 12 & under program to include all stroke development, conditioning, and strength development plans.
- Serve as a Senior Assistant with two senior groups, assisting with planning and execution of water, dryland, and weight room sessions.
- Act as the CAQ USA Swimming Team Registrar.
- Act as the lead coach for up to 2 practice groups, or multiple group assistant roles, assigned each season by the Head Coach for a workload of up to 4 hours daily on deck or in dryland sessions.
- Act as the assistant meet director and the CAQ meet entry chair.
- Assist the Head Coach with coaching staff education, performance reviews, and program planning.
- Be on-site at all CAQ-hosted events and meets to assist with daily operations.
- Attend all competitions in which swimmers from the coach’s training group are participating in Albuquerque and when necessary, in a travel setting (expenses paid).
- Establish a positive practice environment while teaching self-discipline, dedication, and responsibility.
- Implement the framework for swimmer development as established by the CAQ Director.
- Support the School and its mission, maintaining a high degree of professionalism and fostering a culture of mutual respect and joy.

Other Responsibilities
- Assist and substitute with all practice groups as needed.
- Assist with necessary administrative work and support club operations.
- Attend all required Albuquerque Academy and Charger Aquatics employee meetings
- Attend employee meetings as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a field related to swimming.
Experience
- At minimum 4 years of coaching experience, preferably in a Senior Program. Previous competitive swimming experience is required. Prior experience managing an aquatics program and swim meet operations is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent human relations and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of Google software (Sheets, Docs, Forms, etc.)
- Knowledge of Hytek Meet Manager and Team Manager software.
- Familiarity with TeamUnity website development software.
Special Requirements
- Current Coach Membership with USA Swimming is required; may obtain within 30 days upon hiring.
- USA Swimming Administrative Official credentials are preferred (highly relevant for the Regular role).
- ASCA Level 2 required (or received within 6 months); level 3 is preferred; ASCA Membership is required
- A valid Driver’s License is required. *only include if driving is required for the position
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Working Environment
- The majority of work is performed in an indoor setting at the campus Natatorium or other aquatic environments.
- Work hours are variable and include weekends and evenings for practices, meets, and meetings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and actively coach continuously for 2-3 hours.
Physical Demands
- Demonstrate essential swim-related movements on the pool deck and in the weight room.
- Appropriate speaking volume to communicate in a noisy environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds with or without assistance
