Position Summary:
The Promise Scholars Student Assistant is responsible for general administrative support of the Promise Scholars/ACT 101 Program and its staff. The Promise Scholars Student Assistant should be available to help with various large and small projects, be interactive with students, assists with mentoring Promise Scholars, should be reliable and committed to maintaining confidentiality when appropriate, and should have a working knowledge of the Promise Scholars services to Promise Scholars students, as well as possessing a general knowledge of college resources and policies.
Essential Job Functions:
The Promise Scholars Student Assistant helps with a variety of administrative tasks, serve as a receptionist which includes ensuring the front desk is staffed to receive all phone calls and visitors when administrative assistant is not available. The Promise Scholars Student Assistant will also participate in Peer Allies mentoring Program by being a mentor to First Year students. Performs the following duties:
- Receiving and screening incoming calls with an attention to detail and service excellence, as well as handling correspondence, forms, etc.
- Greet students and other visitors, answer questions and ask for assistance when needed
- Assists with event preparation and projects as needed.
- Assists with Lending Library/Loaner laptops
- Manages Promise Scholars social media accounts.
- Maintains office bulletin boards and signage throughout the hallways and lounge.
- Assists with Peer Allies Program
- Assists with Creating Fliers for Promise Scholars events (Canva, or other platforms)
- Makes copies, scans, and performs campus business errands as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

2. SKILLS
The best candidates to be student office assistants are current undergraduate students who are highly dependable, have excellent communication and organizational skills, and enjoys working with others.
All individuals in the Promise Scholars Student Assistant position should exhibit many of the following:

- Exercise good judgement and professionalism
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Receptive to feedback and opportunities to share ideas for improving services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work well with office/professional staff, peers, and faculty

3. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
Promise Scholars Student Assistants are selected on the basis of academic skill, leadership, character, and the ability to communicate well with others.
4. EDUCATION
- Overall GPA of at least a 2.7
- Good standing with the college
5. Promise Scholars Student Assistant does need to be a current Promise Scholar.
