Duties
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure accurate reimbursement.
- Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding for procedures and diagnoses.
- Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection strategies.
- Maintain and update electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems to ensure accurate patient billing information.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies and clarify coding details.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies during the billing process.
- Generate detailed reports on billing activities, claim status, and revenue cycle performance for management review.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Proficiency in medical coding including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
- Experience with medical billing software, EMR systems, and EHR platforms for efficient claim processing.
