Job Summary

An experienced electrical field employee who has progressed beyond the apprentice classifications and can independently perform common commercial electrical installations. The NCJ-1 works under general Foreman direction and demonstrates competent installation skills, working NEC knowledge, blueprint reading, basic troubleshooting, productivity, and safe work practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Electrical Installation: Independently perform common commercial electrical installations, including raceways, branch circuits, lighting, power, devices, boxes, supports, and conductor systems.
• Drawings & Code: Read and interpret floor plans, panel schedules, details, and basic onelines; apply working NEC knowledge to assigned installations.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot common branchcircuit and installation issues using safe, systematic methods within assigned scope.
• Planning & Productivity: Determine routine material, tool, and equipment needs; organize assigned work to meet production expectations.
• Quality & Coordination: Identify field conflicts and drawing discrepancies; verify own work for quality, labeling, supports, workmanship, and completeness.
• Leadership: Assist and mentor A0 through A4 apprentices; communicate progress, shortages, and obstacles to the Foreman.
  
  

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated competency beyond A4 responsibilities or equivalent field experience.
• Proficient in common commercial electrical installations, conduit bending, conductor installation, and basic terminations.
• Working knowledge of electrical drawings, NEC requirements, electrical theory, grounding/bonding, and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to complete routine commercial installations independently under general Foreman direction.
  
  

COMMON JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Electrical Trainee Certification or other registration where required by applicable law or regulation.
• OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, when driving is an essential job function.

• Ability to work in various weather conditions and diverse environments, including confined spaces and heights.
• Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hands and arms to operate equipment.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Problemsolving skills, attention to detail, communication, and organization appropriate to the Journeyman level.

• Pay Ranges: $30.00 $40.00 per hour
