Job Summary
A certified electrical professional who independently performs commercial electrical installations and demonstrates strong technical competency, code application, troubleshooting, productivity, quality, and accountability. The CJ-1 executes assigned work in accordance with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Certified Installation: Independently plan and perform commercial electrical installations, including raceways, feeders, branch circuits, lighting, power, panels, transformers, disconnects, motors, and equipment within assigned scope.
Drawings & Code: Interpret plans, specifications, one-lines, risers, panel schedules, details, and equipment documentation; apply applicable NEC and project requirements.
Troubleshooting: Independently troubleshoot electrical circuits and equipment using safe, systematic methods within assigned scope and authorization.
Planning & Productivity: Determine materials, tools, equipment, and installation sequence; perform takeoffs and organize work to meet established production expectations.
Quality & Coordination: Identify code, design, constructability, coordination, and scope concerns; verify completed installations for quality, labeling, supports, terminations, testing, and completeness.
Leadership: Train and mentor apprentices and developing electricians; communicate progress, obstacles, material needs, and schedule concerns to the Foreman.
Safety: Maintain and work with a “safety first” approach to all work while remaining in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and standards. Maintain clean, organized work areas.
Education, Skills And Experience
Current applicable Journeyman Electrician certification required for the classification.
Demonstrated independent competency in commercial electrical installation, blueprint interpretation, NEC application, troubleshooting, and electrical calculations.
Strong knowledge of conductor sizing, ampacity, raceway fill, grounding/bonding, voltage drop, and overcurrent-protection principles.
Ability to independently plan and execute assigned work while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity.
Common Job Requirements
Current applicable Journeyman Electrician certification required.
OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, when driving is an essential job function.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and diverse environments, including confined spaces and heights.
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hands and arms to operate equipment.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication, and organization appropriate to the Journeyman level.

Pay Ranges: $33.00 - $40.00 per hour
