Regional Hepatitis C Elimination Coalition Peer
Status: Part-time (20 hrs.) hourly; $20 - $23/hr
Location: Remote within NYS, 25% travel Reports to: Regional Hepatitis C Elimination Coalition Coordinator
Overview: Assist in coordinating the involvement and engagement individuals with lived experience to foster community-driven change, awareness, and collective action to support NYS’s in the Hepatitis C (HCV) Elimination Initiative. The initiative’s intent is to develop a regional network of HCV Elimination Coalitions across the state to develop community mobilization plans towards ending the HCV epidemic and addressing persistent health inequities.

- Northeastern NY
- Central NY
- Finger Lakes
- Hudson Valley
- Western NY
This position will advance local strategies HCV elimination by planning and executing regional priority projects identified through engaging community members with lived experiences, community based organizations providing services to people living with or at risk of HCV and analyzing data to identify inequities and promote strategies to increase health and racial equity within the region.
Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of two years of active participation in peer support or peer advocacy programs, or participant-run organizations or similar experiences.
2. Lived experience being diagnosed with and/or cured of HCV.
3. Demonstrated support skills and enthusiasm for convening underserved populations and facilitating groups. Experience with participating in legislative advocacy and education.
4. Ability to communicate effectively.
5. Clean, valid NYS driver’s license.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide outreach, training, and support to persons with lived HCV experience to fully participate in Regional HCV Coalition meetings and activities.
2. Ensure each region’s members are at least 25% persons with lived experience.
3. Assist the Regional Coordinator, ensuring active peer involvement in the development and execution of action plans and activities, and legislative education days.
4. Work collaboratively with the other regional coalitions.
5. Fully engage in self-care to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
6. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
