Entry-Level Swim Club Coach - $18-21/hr

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday — 4:00–6:00 PM

Locations: YMCA / Albany Community Pool (Albany Aquatics Association)

We’re looking for a positive, reliable, and energetic coach to join our staff! Our team is a

tight-knit group that values strong communication, inclusivity, and supporting swimmers of

all backgrounds and skill levels.

This position will work with our Fundamental Group — beginning swimmers who can swim 25

yards of freestyle and 25 yards of backstroke and are ready to take the next step.

What You’ll Do

● Coach and encourage swimmers in the Fundamental Group

● Introduce all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly)

● Teach foundational skills including dives, turns, streamlines, and basic training habits

● Introduce and reinforce basic swim team lane etiquette (circle swimming, spacing,

passing, wall etiquette)

● Provide simple, structured workouts focused on technique, safety, and fun

● Maintain a positive, inclusive, and controlled practice environment

● Communicate effectively with swimmers and collaborate with coaching staff

What We’re Looking For

● Coaching/teaching experience preferred, but not required. We will train the right

candidate!

● Swimming background preferred (club, high school, or summer league), but not required

● Patient, encouraging, and great with kids

● Organized and comfortable leading small groups

● Able to foster a positive team culture

● Must pass a background check and complete required certifications (we’ll help with

these)
