Summary: Patient Transport Specialists are instrumental in elevating the quality of patient care at our hospital. By ensuring the safe movement of individuals throughout our facility, you play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall patient experience. This position offers exposure to a hospital setting, fostering collaboration within a dedicated healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

ALL LEVELS

P rovides support to interdisciplinary treatment teams by promptly responding to requests for assistance and to facilitate timely flow of patients.

T ransports patients and equipment from treatment areas, operating rooms, patient; s room and/or throughout the hospital campus. This includes personal vehicles taxis, ambulances or helicopters.

D emonstrates reassurance and support to patient and family; explains actions, provides information regarding waiting area(s) or location.

S anitizes and performs basic maintenance of transportation equipment.

C ompletes trip documentation and submits in a timely manner .

F ollows relevant hospital, local, state and federal standards and regulations.

P erforms other duties as assigned.

P ATIENT TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST II

D emonstrates strong knowledge of dispatch technology and patient flow process across campus .

D emonstrates ability to manage patient flow through appropriate assignment of tasks to team members.

D emonstrates consistent effective communication with interdisciplinary teams.

I dentifies process improvement opportunities and presents them to supervisor with supporting data.

P erforms other duties as assigned .

P ATIENT TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST LEVEL III

P erforms all position duties in support of staff and department workflow.

C omprehensive knowledge of patient transportation workflows, equipment, and technology.

S upports Supervisor with process improvement initiatives, data collection and analysis .

M aintains regulatory departments information in accreditation, certifications, re-certification .

M anages department needs as assigned or during supervisor’s absence. Acts as a role model, mentor, and subject matter expert for team members.

A ssociate’s degree in healthcare or business related field from an accredited college or university. Progressive professional work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

L evel II

T wo (2) years of customer service experience, one (1) of which is in healthcare.

F our (4) years of customer service experience, two (2) of which are in healthcare .

B asic Life Support (BLS) card within six (6) months of hire.
