What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Logistics Clerk position at Alaska Gear Company?
At Alaska Gear Company, we build gear designed to perform where failure isn’t an option, from remote backcountry travel to extreme Alaskan conditions. Behind every product we ship is a team that ensures it gets where it needs to go, accurately, efficiently, and on time.
We’re looking for a Shipping and Logistics Clerk who takes pride in organization, accuracy, and keeping operations moving. This role is essential to connecting our products with customers across Alaska and around the world.
What You’ll Do
As part of our logistics team, you’ll play a hands-on role in managing the flow of goods across our manufacturing, retail, and shipping operations:
- Process all inbound and outbound shipments
- Review orders and prioritize domestic and international shipments
- Audit shipments for accuracy before packing
- Pack and label products to company standards
- Assist customers with loading fabricated parts
- Perform inventory counts and quality inspections; reject damaged items
- Maintain inventory across retail, manufacturing, and shipping supplies
- Occasionally drive company vehicles for deliveries (Fairbanks/North Pole and MatSu)
- Complete administrative tasks using webbased systems
- Support the sales team with order status and customer inquiries
- Take on additional duties as needed to support operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 21 years of age or older and have a satisfactory driving record
- Two years work related experience preferred
- 1 years International shipping experience preferred
- Experience in specialty production or custom manufacturing environment
- Must be able to read and understand units of measurement (i.e. feet, inches, etc)
- Ability to handle packages from envelopes to boxes ranging up to 75 pounds
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Ability to take direction well and follow through with little or no supervision
- Commitment to following safety procedures and company standards
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly compensation, pay range: $20.00 $24.00/hr DOE
