Professional/Ethical Responsibilities
- Train for and administer the WIDA ACCESS 2.0 & Colorado Screener
- Documentation of designation & redesignation for October Count and CDE
- Create EL Plans and share with AHS staff
- Write EL Parent Letters of acceptance of the program & meet with parents to sign
- Implement a research based curriculum to EL students in a classroom setting with direct instruction.
- Know and apply CDE Guidelines for ELs
- Know federal and state laws that pertain to EL students
- Be able to communicate with parents, content area teachers, and the counseling department.
- Know WIDA language standards and the four domains of language proficiency and implementation.
- Collaborate with the AHS English Department and apply State/National Standards to instruction
- Collaborate with content area teachers on accommodations.
- Collaborate & coordinate class schedules with the counseling department
- Collaborate with EL paraprofessional
- Connect students & families to community services and higher education opportunities
- Organize family events
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, spelling, literature and other content areas taught.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Certification/License
- Colorado State Certification as an English Education Teacher.
- Must have endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education K-12
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree in related area preferred.
