What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Nurse III – Tuberculosis (TB) Coordinator position at Alamance County Government?
This is an advanced and specialized professional level nursing position that develops, plans, and coordinates a comprehensive Tuberculosis Communicable Disease Program. The goal of the TB program is early identification, treatment, follow-up and prevention of Tuberculosis for Alamance County citizens.

Duties for this position include but is not limited to direct outpatient clinical care; investigating/managing active TB cases or outbreaks; conduct patient home visits as needed for TB treatment; new staff program training/orientation; review and maintain program policy and procedures to assure contract addendum is met; development/implementation of new policy/procedures as indicated; identify program needs/goals; plan, organize, and monitor daily clinic/program activities; monitor encounters for correct coding and billing; conduct and maintain accurate pharmacy inventory and supply records; consult with pharmacist on pharmacy needs; assist with student learners; inform and consult with Nursing Supervisor, and Nursing Director of program operations; collaborate with medical director, providers, other coordinators to ensure effective service delivery; serves as agency lead and community liaison to multiple community partners for TB program and issues; serves on the agency multidisciplinary Epi Team Meetings; conduct and attend necessary or required meetings; collaborate with health education for educational materials; responsible for data management to include gathering, organization, review and presentation of data to supervisor; TB program community outreach and formal presentations; train and become proficient in ACHD clinics after appropriate training/orientation; staff emergency shelters as mandated by the State Public Health Office; and perform additional duties as required by the Nursing Supervisor, Nursing Director and Health Director.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or a Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Registered Nurses without the above work experience may be considered as a work-against for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Fluent in both Spanish and English both oral and written.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N. C. Board of Nursing. Valid N.C. driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle.
