The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants for a Crime Scene Investigation Technician within the CSI Unit. A CSI Technician documents, photographs, videos and processes crime scenes. They are also responsible for processing different kinds of evidence inside of the Sheriff’s Office, as requested. Crime Scene Investigation Technicians would be responsible for compiling the information into a neat, legible report that would be provided to detectives, officers, outside agencies, and the court system.Reasonable Accommodations StatementTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: • Assemble required documents and information as needed for investigations.• Must have basic computer skills and possess the ability to learn.• Obtain and maintain certifications applicable for the position. • Possess excellent report writing skills. • Assist with investigations involving all types of crimes or suspected crimes.• Reports to duty on time and has regular attendance. • Is required to be on an on-call rotation and may be needed outside of regular on-call schedule.• Exercises rational judgement.• Maintains the confidence and trust of peers, superiors and the general public.• Excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work well with others.• Carries out any or all other duties as directed by the Sheriff or his designee.• Possess the ability to work in harsh environments for evidence collection needs. • Attend training that is relevant to CSI (local and out of state).• Possess the ability to adjust to a fast-paced environment.• Uses discretion effectively to determine a proper course of action consistent with the department’s mission and values.• Testify in court, prepare the appropriate documents as needed.

Education & Experience: Minimum Qualifications: • Must be at least 18 years of age. • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).• Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.• Must be able to successfully pass the following: Oral Interview, Background Check, Polygraph Examination and Drug Screening. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with duties closely related to documenting, photographing, construction or those described above or an equivalent combination of experience and education. • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Forensics Science, Biology, Criminal Justice or a closely related field.Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience)Work Schedule: This is an FLSA non-exempt, civilian position. Work is on a rotational scheduled basis; the normal workweek is based on a schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, one week and 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, on the 2nd week, Monday through Friday, forty (40) hours per week.
