Qualifications and Job Description Minimum Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education or field of instruction NC Certification/Teaching License or the ability to receive a NC Teaching License
  • Reports to the Principal
  • Reads The First Six Weeks of School and uses the Responsive Classroom approach and creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the student.
  • Middle School Electives (5th - 8th): Read the middle school Responsive Advisory Meeting book and become familiar with middle school Responsive Classroom practices. Uses the Middle School Responsive Classroom approach and creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students
  • Teach students to care and build relationships through positive behavior and language toward students, staff, and the community by using Responsive Classroom practices
  • Uses the Responsive Classroom approach and creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Maintains a clean, and organized classroom that supports student learning and reflects respect for classrooms
  • Implements daily routines and procedures that promote student responsibility for the cleanliness of the classroom and the School
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the ACS curriculum by actively engaging in training, asking questions, and implementing instructional plans effectively.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other professionals in planning instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Provide and support literacy assessment and data analysis, as needed
  • Provide support for the school's literacy program, as needed
  • Serve as a resource for teachers, assistant teachers, and families, as needed
  • Conduct 2 family resource/support events - one in the fall and one in the winter/spring
  • Coordinate literacy support and organizing schedules with the general education teachers
  • Meets and instructs assigned students/small groups in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that aligns with the curriculum set forth by the administrative team
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students
  • Prepares lessons for the students/small groups assigned and shows written evidence of preparation that meet all of the ACS lesson plan non-negotiables
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons and communicates these objectives to students
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the students involved
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports, as required
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Seeks assistance from support personnel, as required
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Responsible for:
    • Knowing and understanding the Title I School-wide guidelines and procedures to ensure federal and state compliance
    • Ensuring that all federal and state guidelines are followed
    • Working with the Curriculum Director to ensure that all Title I paperwork is correctly completed, organized, and submitted in a timely manner
    • Works with the Curriculum Director to develop, coordinate, and implement 2 in-person family resource/support events - one in the fall and one in the winter/spring
    • Meet at least 2 times per month with the Curriculum Director and the MTSS Coordinator to review data, paperwork, and the weekly lesson plan outline that is shared with the Admin Team through Google Drive
    • Ensures that all Title I documentation is digitally organized and completed for the Title I Audit
    • Works closely with the Curriculum Director, Principal, Assistant Principal, MTSS Coordinator on the Title I Audit to ensure federal compliance
  • Assists in consistently reviewing, analyzing, reporting, and interpreting data to drive instructional decisions
  • Assists the general education teacher in the development and implementation of Student Success Plans.
  • Will use ECATS - MTSS System to:
    • Write Success Plan Goals
    • Collect and analyze data
    • Maintain and update student intervention logs
  • Attends MTSS meetings, when needed
  • Attends student conferences, when needed
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Attends meetings, school events, and serves on staff committees as required
  • Complies with the Staff Daily Check-in and Out System ​​
  • Reads and Understands the entire Employee Handbook
