What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator - Air Conditioning position at Alaka`i Mechanical Corporation?
Basic Function:
The basic function of the Estimator - Air Conditioning is to assist the Chief Estimator with quantity takeoffs of rough materials, accessories, equipment and attaining all related subcontractor pricing to provide an accurate estimate. This shall also include reviewing the contract specifications and drawings to become fully aware of the requirement of the project.
Reporting Relationships:
The Estimator reports directly to the Chief Estimator. There are no positions reporting to the Estimator.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Develop detailed cost estimates for AC&V systems within commercial and residential projects.
Analyze project specifications, drawings and documents to gather information and prepare accurate estimates.
Research and source pricing for material, labor and equipment.
Coordinate with equipment suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to get accurate quotations.
Prepare and present estimates to the Chief Estimator in a timely manner.
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risks.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on industry standards, advancements and trends.
Qualifications:
At least 3 years work experience in estimating. Preferably, in the air conditioning trade.
Strong knowledge of AC&V systems, components and design standards.
Familiarity with estimating software and tools.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Ability to understand and speak the English language.
Education and Training Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, statistics or another related field, preferred. . Candidates with degrees and training in engineering management or project management with relevant work experience may also be qualified for the role.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
