SALARY RATE: $80,148.00 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE
JOB DUTIES : The function of the Facilities and Maintenance Department is to provide continued and safe operation of all utility services. Maintains safe operation of the physical plant and all utilities, equipment, building fixed and portable. Perpetually inspects buildings, equipment, and grounds to determine maintenance and repairs needed; and maintains perpetual job schedules that provide preventive maintenance for all fixed structures and equipment. The Air Conditioning Mechanic II is primarily involved in the installation, inspection, operation, overhaul and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Other duties include performing maintenance and repair on heat, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and working on projects including work requiring the use of plumbing, painting, welding, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and mechanical equipment and performing other duties as assigned. This position may be subject to on call duties.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Two (2) years of work experience in the repair, overhaul and maintenance of air conditioning and refrigerating systems, as a fully competent Air Conditioning Mechanic.
SUPERVISORY APTITUDE: Applicants must demonstrate evidence of supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects, by details to supervisory position, by completion of supervisory skills in assignments, or by favorable appraisals of a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant’s overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: In accordance with Section 608 of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Air Act, 1990, as amended, certification as a Type I, Type II, Type III or Universal technician is required.
KNOWLEDGES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods and procedures in the operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems; servicing requirements, tools, chemicals, and testing equipment relating to the operation and maintenance of air conditioning and refrigerating systems; basic safety procedures.
· ABILITY TO: Plan, assign, and review the work of others; maintain, service, and repair air conditioning and refrigerating units; use and maintain tools and equipment pertinent to the trade; develop maintenance schedule for air conditioning and refrigerating systems; estimate time, materials and labor needed to perform repair jobs; give and follow oral and written instructions; keep and make written reports.
