About the Role
The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that our products and processes meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing quality control and assurance activities that drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities using problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, 8D, CAPA, and other core quality methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and maintain Process Control Plans and PFMEAs based on findings from RCCA activities and new process introductions.
- Coordinate and lead PPAP submissions and oversee First Article Inspection (FAI) data collection and documentation.
- Conduct statistical analyses to assess process capability and identify improvement opportunities.
- Perform and support internal and vendor audits to ensure compliance with customer, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Develop and implement inspection standards, testing methods, and evaluation procedures.
- Support gage calibration programs and perform Measurement System Analyses (MSA/GR&R) to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Design and maintain documentation for sampling procedures, data collection, and quality reporting.
- Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to monitor and improve process performance.
- Communicate key quality issues, trends, and recommended improvements to management and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in measuring, testing, and recording data related to product and process quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- 3 years of quality engineering experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of PPAP, FAI, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and CAPA methodologies.
- Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems; exposure to ISO 14001 is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in root cause analysis tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, Excel).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
