What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Manufacturing position at ALAC HR Solutions?
Most manufacturing leaders inherit an operation, this one gets to build it
We're partnering with a growing advanced technology manufacturer preparing to scale production of complex, mission-critical hardware.
The company has established its technology and is entering a critical phase of growth, where the ability to manufacture efficiently, consistently, and at greater volume will determine what comes next.
We're seeking a hands-on Director of Manufacturing who can transform evolving, low-volume production into a disciplined, scalable operation while building the processes, teams, and infrastructure required for continued growth.
The Opportunity
Working directly with executive and engineering leadership, you'll help build the manufacturing operation for its next stage of growth.
- Scale production: Increase manufacturing capacity, throughput, and labor efficiency.
- Build manufacturing systems: Establish repeatable processes, tooling, standardized work, and quality controls.
- Develop the team: Lead manufacturing personnel, strengthen accountability, and build capabilities for expanded production.
- Improve operations: Optimize production workflows, supplier performance, and manufacturing costs.
- Enable growth: Evaluate automation, expand production capacity, and develop systems that can support future manufacturing expansion.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of manufacturing experience, including 5 years leading production operations and manufacturing teams
- Proven manufacturing scale-up experience, transitioning complex physical hardware from low-volume production into repeatable, higher-volume manufacturing
- Hands-on manufacturing process expertise, including production workflows, tooling, standardized work, Lean principles, and root-cause analysis
- Demonstrated operational results, with measurable improvements in production capacity, efficiency, quality, and delivery performance
- Experience in lean, evolving manufacturing environments, with the ability to develop teams, solve problems directly, and execute without extensive corporate infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience manufacturing complex products within aerospace, defense, energy storage, automotive, or advanced industrial manufacturing
- Experience expanding production shifts, implementing automation, or scaling manufacturing across multiple facilities
- Engineering degree or experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems
This position offers direct access to executive leadership, meaningful influence over manufacturing strategy, and the opportunity to help build an organization during a critical stage of growth.
If you've successfully built or scaled manufacturing operations and want the opportunity to do it again, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
