JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Student Services Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid Alabama certificate in administration or supervision.
- A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
- A minimum of three years administrative and/or supervisory experience.
- Experience in working with programs for at-risk students preferred.
- Experience/knowledge in computerized record keeping preferred.
- Demonstrated competence in oral and written communications.
- Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Chief Student Services Officer
JOB GOALS : To enable all students to utilize their educational opportunities to the fullest by eliminating, as far as possible, those problems that prevent or interfere with the student's learning..
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide leadership and assist with the formulation of a desirable educational program for the students of Alabaster City Schools.
2. Supervise the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student support programs and services, including substance use prevention, referral services, initiatives that promote a positive school climate and culture.
3. Collaborate with student support personnel—including social workers, school nurses, mental health therapists, and counselors—to provide comprehensive support for at-risk students.
4. Support building administrators in strengthening and enhancing student support programs and services.
5. Provide the Chief Officer with data-driven insights and recommendations to improve student engagement and overall district performance.
6. Assist in the oversight of district emergency management and security planning,
implementation, and training in coordination with the Chief Student Services Officer.
7. Work collaboratively with school officials, counselors, juvenile courts, and community agencies to address cases involving suspected or confirmed student delinquency.
8. Support the Chief Student Services Officer in preparing for and participating in court proceedings involving students or support personnel, utilizing Board legal counsel as appropriate.
9. Build and maintain effective partnerships among Family Court, the school system, parents, community agencies, and policymakers.
10. Coordinate the scheduling of hearings and serve as hearing officer when required.
11. Perform supervisory duties to ensure compliance with district attendance policies and procedures.
12. Assist in the development and administration of enrollment policies, including the enforcement of attendance zones and out of zone requests.
13. Serve as a central office liaison for athletic-related issues and concerns.
14. Support the development, review and publication of the Student Code of Conduct and Attendance manual.
15. Be regular and punctual in attendance.
16. Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all Board of Education matters.
17. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the support personnel evaluation system and Board policy.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-months/240 days (non-exempt)
