Program Specialist
JOB GOAL
Oversee instructional support, resource management, and day-to-day program delivery at the Saban Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s Degree or above in Education, STEM Education, or a related field (such as Science, Computer Science, or Math) from an accredited college or university.
2. A minimum of two (2) years of successful experience in an administrative, coaching, coordinator, or leadership role.
3. A minimum of five (5) years of classroom teaching experience.
4. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Demonstrated experience with school- or district-level logistics, scheduling, and instructional planning.
2. Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of accepted “best practices” in teaching, including co-teaching models and collaborative educational practices.
4. Strong understanding of state and national academic standards and how to translate them into hands-on learning experiences.
5. Technologically literate and adept at using the latest in tech tools, applications, and platforms.
6. Skilled in the use of evaluation instruments consistent with the goals and objectives of the Saban Center.
7. Skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage and support the Teacher in Residence (TIR) program, including scheduling, coordination, and instructional alignment
- Serve as a primary point of contact for coordinating daily program needs across internal teams.
- Oversee learning lab resources, materials, and equipment to ensure readiness for all programs.
- Maintain inventory systems and manage supply usage to support efficient program delivery.
- Coordinate logistics for field trips and special programs with the education liaison to ensure smooth, high-quality participant experiences.
- Lead and manage programming for the mobile STEM unit serving schools across West Alabama.
- Plan and implement seasonal offerings such as summer camps, STEM competitions, and special events.
- Support large-scale initiatives, including robotics, drone, and AI-focused programs
- Completes reports, collects data, and provides information for program monitoring as requested.
- Assists administrative personnel in the selection, mentoring, coaching, and induction of new Saban Center personnel.
- Attends staff meetings, applicable professional development, and programs in instruction and curriculum.
- Performs other assignments as assigned by the supervisor.
- Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to the district’s absence management system.
- Reports to work on time and regularly as designated by work schedule (Saban Center schedule may not align with the TCS academic calendar. Saban Center employees will follow Saban Center event schedule, which may include occasional evening hours, weekends, and summer obligations.)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the TCS Board’s Policy Manual, Students First Act , Saban Center Board Policy , and the TCS Board’s Salary Schedule – Specialist. This is a 245 contract day position.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the TCS Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
