Education Liaison Specialist
JOB GOAL
Connect the Saban Center and K–12 schools, research institutions, and industry partners across Alabama. This role focuses on creating meaningful partnerships, increasing school access to the Center, and developing outreach programs that unify STEM efforts across the state.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college or university and Alabama State Department of Education Certification in the area of instructional responsibility required.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of successful public education teaching experience.
4. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Education Administrator and/or Education Coordinator
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Comprehensive knowledge of school logistics, scheduling, field trip policies, and school transportation.
2. Knowledge of local and state education organizational structures and school districts.
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with superintendents, principals, teachers and community members (including homeschool population).
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and communication are necessary.
5. Technologically literate and adept at using the latest in tech tools, applications and platforms.
6. Skilled in the use of evaluation instruments consistent with the goals and objectives of the Saban Center.
7. Skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Schedule and coordinate school field trips, ensuring equitable access across the state.
- Serve as the main point of contact for school systems and educators.
- Proactively communicate with schools before visits to ensure smooth operations.
- Develop outreach and engagement programs that build reciprocal relationships with educational and industry partners.
- Assist schools in using the Saban Center Avatar system to engage students pre-visit.
- Help establish and grow a statewide network that aligns local, regional, and state STEM education efforts.
- Support broader outreach initiatives under the direction of the Education Director.
- Completes reports, collects data, and provides information for program monitoring as requested.
- Assists administrative personnel in the selection, mentoring, coaching, and induction of new Saban Center personnel.
- Attends staff meetings, applicable professional development and programs in instruction and curriculum.
- Performs other assignments as assigned by the supervisor.
- Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to the district’s absence management system.
- Reports to work on time and regularly as designated by work schedule (Saban Center schedule may not align with the TCS academic calendar. Saban Center employees will follow Saban Center event schedule, which may include occasional evening hours, weekends, and summer obligations.)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with the provisions of the TCS Board’s Policy Manual, Students First Act , Saban Center Board Policy , and the TCS Board’s Salary Schedule – Specialist. This is a 245 contract day position.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the TCS Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
