What are the responsibilities and job description for the Correctional Industries Director position at Alabama Department of Corrections?
The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) is seeking a Correctional Industries Director to lead the Alabama Correctional Industries (ACI) Division. This position is located on-site in Montgomery, Alabama. This is highly responsible and professional and administrative work in planning and directing specialized activities in Correctional Industries.
Salary: $69,012.00 - $134,824.80
Note: The starting salary is determined based on education, experience, or a combination of both.
ACI is a self-supportive division of the Alabama Department of Corrections, providing a work-training program for inmates of the Department of Corrections. The purpose is to assist all state departments, institutions, and political subdivisions of the state in securing their requirements.
Responsibilities to include:
- Consult and collaborate with ADOC leadership to coordinate and integrate the role of Correctional Industries within the institutions, resolve conflicts and eliminate obstacles to achieve operational objectives.
- Manage operations, supervise staff performance and oversee personnel-related actions in Sales & Marketing, Production and Fiscal units.
- Determine organizational structure and develop operational plans and procedures.
- Develop and ensure fiscal management of the budget to include proper long-and short-term planning; administer the budget in accordance with the law.
- Make decisions regarding agency issues and resource allocation.

- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any major.
- Three (3) years full-time management experience in operations, production, marketing and finance in a manufacturing operation.
OR
- Additional education and/or experience above that which is minimally required, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and team management skills.
