About the Role

This position is employed by AL Homes Inc., a brand of AlphaX RE Capital. We are seeking a Construction Manager (Single-Family Homes) who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day construction of assigned single-family homes from site start through final completion and homeowner turnover. This role oversees field operations, coordinates subcontractors and trade partners, monitors construction schedules, and ensures each home is built safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards, plans, and specifications. The Construction Manager serves as the primary field representative for assigned homes, ensuring efficient construction execution while delivering exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction professional with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The successful candidate is capable of managing multiple homes in different stages of construction while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, production schedules, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Home Construction Management

• Manage the construction of assigned single-family homes from groundbreaking through final completion and homeowner turnover.
• Develop and maintain construction schedules to ensure homes are completed according to established production timelines.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections to verify work quality, construction progress, and compliance with plans and specifications.
• Coordinate daily field activities and proactively resolve construction issues that may impact schedule, quality, or budget.
• Ensure completed homes meet company quality standards and are ready for homeowner inspections and closing.

Subcontractor & Trade Coordination

• Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners throughout each phase of construction.
• Monitor subcontractor workmanship, productivity, and compliance with project schedules and company standards.
• Communicate construction priorities, schedule updates, and field requirements to trade partners.
• Address field conflicts, scope questions, and construction deficiencies in a timely manner.
• Foster positive working relationships with subcontractors while promoting accountability, quality, and teamwork.

Quality Assurance & Safety

• Perform quality inspections throughout each stage of construction to ensure compliance with company standards, building codes, and approved plans.
• Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and jobsite safety requirements.
• Coordinate municipal inspections and ensure all required approvals are obtained before progressing to the next construction phase.
• Prepare and complete punch lists, ensuring deficiencies are corrected prior to homeowner orientation and closing.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites that reflect the company's commitment to professionalism and quality.

Schedule, Budget & Project Coordination

• Monitor construction progress and adjust schedules as necessary to maintain production goals and closing commitments.
• Coordinate material deliveries with Purchasing to ensure products are available when needed.
• Review field change requests and communicate cost or schedule impacts to appropriate stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, inspection reports, construction documentation, and project updates.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support efficient construction operations and continuous process improvement.

Customer Experience & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Conduct homeowner walkthroughs, pre-closing inspections, and new home orientations while addressing homeowner questions and concerns.
• Coordinate with Sales and Customer Care to support closing schedules and warranty transitions.
• Assist Customer Care with construction-related warranty items when needed following home delivery.
• Communicate construction progress, milestones, and potential delays to management and internal stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments to deliver high-quality homes and an outstanding homeowner experience.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5–8 years of residential construction experience, preferably managing single-family home construction.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, building systems, and quality control practices.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and construction schedules in a production homebuilding environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction site safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with homeowners, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project schedules.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between assigned jobsites.

Preferred

• Experience working for a California residential homebuilder or production homebuilding company.
• Familiarity with California residential building codes, municipal inspections, and permitting requirements.
• Experience using construction management platforms such as BuildPro, Hyphen, Procore, NewStar, or similar software.
• Experience managing multiple homes simultaneously in various stages of construction.
• OSHA 30 certification or other construction safety certifications.

The expected salary range for this position is $140,000 to $185,000 per year. The actual salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and specific skill sets, in accordance with California laws.
