REPORTS TO (Title) : Purchasing Supervisor
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Plan, order, and manage incoming goods/services from select suppliers to achieve cost and service objectives
- Select suppliers to best fulfill Akron Brass needs (price, delivery, quality, etc)
- Working within the capacity of a service organization, resolve daily operating issues with suppliers and internal stake holders
- Analyze and recommend opportunities for cost reduction, supplier value added resources, inventory management, and quality enhancement
- Drive for customer satisfaction, both external and internal, through timely results on situational needs
- Manage supplier relationships to best achieve predetermined goals including implementing and overseeing supplier specific strategies
- Assist in the negotiation of price and terms/conditions including basic understanding of contract management and driving to agreed goals
- Assist in the evaluation of preferred suppliers
- Identify opportunities for process development, personally, as well as intra- and inter-departmentally
- Identify opportunities for inventory improvement (lead time, MOQ, reorder point)
- Strong organizational skills
- Requires high degree of accuracy
- Must have excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate with technical resources
- Demonstrated ability to thoroughly follow through with appropriate urgency
- Strong problem solving skills
- Working understanding of prints and machining processes
- Associates degree in Business Administration (or related degree) or equivalent work experience
- 5 years’ experience in a purchasing role
- Experience with machined components preferred
- Perform general office functions.
- Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
- General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
