Akkodis is seeking a Technical Writer - Vacuum Systems for a Contract position with a client located in Fairport, NY. We are looking for Mechanical/Manufacturing engineering.
Pay Range: $55/hr - $60/hr on W2 (The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)
Relocation candidates are encouraged to apply; relocation assistance will be provided.
Work Setup: Onsite, Mon-Fri
Job Title: Technical Writer - Vacuum Systems
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed technical documentation for vacuum-based systems and machine builds
- Capture and document how systems operate, including:
- Vacuum pumps and chambers
- Pressure measurement systems
- Fluid dynamics and oil-filling components
- Create clear process documentation, such as:
- “How the fuel station works.”
- Sub-system and full system operation overviews
- Produce 2D representations and diagrams of systems (CAD not required, but helpful if available)
- Partner with process engineers and technicians to gather information and validate accuracy
- Standardize documentation across multiple production cells to support duplication and scaling
- Fill documentation gaps where existing system knowledge is incomplete or undocumented
- Organize and structure documentation for long-term usability and training
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of technical writing or documentation experience
- Strong experience documenting vacuum systems or closely related equipment
- Working knowledge of:
- Vacuum pumps, chambers, and pressure systems
- Basic fluid dynamics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word for technical documentation creation and formatting
- Ability to translate complex mechanical systems into clear, user-friendly documentation
- Experience working in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or production environments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
