System Engineer

Akkodis is proud to partner with a global automotive client who is seeking a highly technical Systems Engineer for a contractual opportunity in the Dearborn, MI area (Requires 4 days onsite weekly. In this high-impact role, you'll help create the blueprint for advanced electrical systems that support everything from ADAS technologies to fully electrified vehicle platforms. You'll work at the intersection of systems engineering, electrical architecture, functional safety, and emerging technologies, solving complex engineering challenges that have never been solved before.

Pay Range: $36/hr. - $40/hr. (W2) - The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve next-generation vehicle electrical architecture concepts and strategies.
• Translate vehicle-level requirements into scalable electrical system and hardware architecture solutions.
• Own the requirements cascade from vehicle-level objectives down to subsystem and component requirements.
• Drive end-to-end technical requirement management, including creation, traceability, verification, and closure.
• Apply systems engineering methodologies including requirement decomposition, interface management, verification, and validation.
• Support architecture definition for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), connected vehicle technologies, and electrified vehicle platforms.
• Conduct architecture analyses, trade studies, and failure mode assessments to ensure robust system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to align system requirements and technical vision.
• Support the application of ISO 26262 functional safety principles within system and hardware architectures.
• Leverage modern AI-based engineering tools and methodologies to optimize architecture performance and system analysis.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical system design, modeling, systems architecture, or complex electrical network development.
• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles, including:
• Requirement decomposition
• V-Model development
• Interface management
• Failure Mode Analysis (FMA/FMEA)
• Verification and Validation
• Knowledge of electrical networks and electrical architecture fundamentals.
• Understanding of ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
• Experience utilizing analytical tools and AI-enabled solutions for system optimization and engineering analysis.
