Akkodis is seeking a Senior Student Applications Developer job in Lewisville, TX for a Contract to Hire position with a client of ours. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting higher education enterprise systems, including Ellucian Colleague SIS and Oracle Student Financial Aid (Oracle SFA). This role will lead development, integration, and ongoing support efforts across critical student-facing applications while ensuring compliance with federal financial aid regulations and institutional requirements. The successful candidate will also design and maintain complex database solutions and enterprise integrations supporting student records, enrollment, financial aid, and academic operations.
Pay Range: $$55-65hr (W2). Salary may be negotiable based upon experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Senior Application Developer, Student Applications job responsibilities include:
Ellucian Colleague SIS Development & Support
- Design, develop, and maintain technical solutions within the Ellucian Colleague SIS platform, including Colleague Studio customizations, BAR processes, and user interface enhancements.
- Develop and maintain UniBasic/UniData BASIC programs supporting Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Accounts, and Academic Affairs functions.
- Build and support Colleague Web API integrations and DMIS processes for portal applications, mobile platforms, and third-party systems.
- Administer Colleague environments including configuration, table maintenance, rules management, and parameter setup.
- Participate in Colleague patching and upgrade cycles, including testing, documentation review, and stakeholder communications.
Oracle Student Financial Aid Development & Support
- Serve as the primary technical administrator and developer for Oracle Student Financial Aid (SFA).
- Develop and maintain COD integrations, NSLDS enrollment reporting, G5 drawdown workflows, and other Title IV federal data exchange processes.
- Build and support automated batch processing, reconciliation activities, and year-end close functions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues while collaborating with Oracle Support and internal stakeholders.
- Implement upgrades, patches, and regulatory changes in compliance with Department of Education requirements.
- Develop custom PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers within Oracle environments.
Database & Integration Development
- Author complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and SSIS packages supporting reporting and ETL workloads.
- Develop advanced PL/SQL programming solutions, including packages, exception handling, cursors, and bulk processing routines.
- Perform query optimization and database performance tuning across SQL Server and Oracle platforms.
- Design and maintain data models, operational data stores, and staging environments.
- Develop integration solutions using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), REST, SOAP, and file-based interfaces.
- Build and maintain SSIS packages connecting Oracle, SQL Server, flat files, and external systems.
- Develop API-based integrations utilizing Colleague Web API, Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS), and third-party APIs.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all development activities comply with FERPA, Title IV, and institutional data governance standards.
- Implement robust error handling, logging, monitoring, alerting, and audit trail capabilities.
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing efforts.
- Maintain technical documentation, including specifications, data flow diagrams, runbooks, API documentation, and configuration guides.
Collaboration & Institutional Support
- Partner with Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar, Academic Affairs, and IT leadership to deliver technology solutions.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for Colleague SIS and Oracle SFA platforms.
- Mentor junior team members and assist with issue triage and escalation processes.
- Evaluate vendor roadmaps, system enhancements, and emerging technologies for future adoption.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities, including sprint planning and backlog refinement.
Additional Duties
- Maintain awareness of current practices and future trends in application integration technologies.
- Work assigned tickets through development, testing, implementation, and completion.
- Participate in university committees, project teams, and working groups.
- Provide status updates and communicate project progress to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- 8 years of enterprise application development experience supporting Student Information Systems and/or Financial Aid systems within higher education.
- Experience supporting Oracle Student Financial Aid (Oracle SFA) or equivalent student financial aid platforms.
- Experience supporting Ellucian Colleague SIS, including Colleague Studio, BAR processes, module configuration, and UniData/UniBasic programming.
- Advanced proficiency with T-SQL development, stored procedures, triggers, query optimization, and SQL Server performance tuning.
- Advanced proficiency with Oracle PL/SQL development including packages, procedures, cursors, exception handling, and bulk processing.
- Hands-on experience developing integrations with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
- Strong experience designing and deploying SSIS packages and ETL workflows.
- Deep understanding of federal student financial aid regulations, Title IV compliance, COD processing, and NSLDS reporting.
- Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague architecture, DMIS, Colleague Web API, and UniData/UniVerse environments.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, SOAP services, JSON, XML, and web service integrations.
- Strong understanding of relational database design, indexing, normalization, and query plan analysis.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, email systems, and other standard business technologies.
