Position Title: IT Analyst (Portfolio Management)
Location: Remote (Must be within 90 miles of Topeka, KS)
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $35/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an IT Analyst (Portfolio Management) to join a growing organization that is building its Portfolio Management function from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in a collaborative, evolving environment and wants to play a key role in shaping portfolio management processes, governance, reporting, and tool strategy.
Working closely with the hiring manager and key stakeholders, you will help define and operationalize portfolio management practices, support reporting and analytics initiatives, and contribute to the selection and administration of portfolio management tools. The ideal candidate is analytical, adaptable, and comfortable creating structure in an environment where processes are still being developed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of portfolio management processes, governance, and best practices.
- Support the execution and operationalization of the organization's portfolio management framework.
- Help drive adoption of new PMO and portfolio management processes across the business.
- Serve as the administrator and ongoing custodian of the organization's portfolio management tool.
- Gather, validate, analyze, and maintain project and portfolio data.
- Develop portfolio reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI or Tableau.
- Consolidate information from SharePoint and other data sources to support portfolio reporting and decision-making.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide recommendations regarding portfolio management tools, processes, and governance structures.
- Evaluate portfolio management platforms and support tool selection efforts.
- Collaborate with project managers, business stakeholders, and leadership teams to ensure portfolio visibility and alignment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting PMO, portfolio management, project management, or business analysis functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience creating reports and dashboards using Power BI and/or Tableau.
- Experience working with SharePoint and project-related data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience establishing, implementing, or improving portfolio management processes.
- Experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools such as Planview, Clarity, Jira Align, ServiceNow, Microsoft Project Online, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting PMO governance, reporting, and portfolio operations.
- Knowledge of portfolio planning, prioritization, resource management, and governance frameworks.
- Experience presenting portfolio insights to leadership teams and executives.
