Akkodis is seeking an IT Project and Portfolio Manager for a Direct Hire job with a client located in San Diego, CA (Hybrid).
Pay Range: $124,000 to $170,000; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Job Purpose:
Role Overview & Expectations
Candidates has been highly effective as a liaison between IT and the business, serving as a strong business partner and enabling IT to deliver impactful solutions.
The team is looking for a candidate with prior management experience who can lead effectively in a dynamic environment. This is a small, agile team where individuals wear multiple hats. The role requires someone who can also function as a senior project manager, with strong experience in Agile methodologies. The individual will support either the Salesforce or Data Analytics/BI group.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead large-scale, complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Manage a portfolio of high-visibility initiatives (currently 4 key projects requiring delivery).
- Quickly understand and apply project management methodologies.
People Management
- Act as a people leader, including coaching and developing newer project managers.
- Apply situational leadership and servant leadership principles.
- Provide guidance while also having the confidence to push back constructively when needed.
Business Partnership & Communication
- Serve as a strong advocate and “cheerleader” for the business.
- Maintain excellent communication across stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with both IT and business teams.
Team & Environment
- The team is supportive and collaborative, currently undergoing significant change.
- The Project & Portfolio Management group operates with a global Center of Excellence (COE).
- Several multi-year projects are in progress, with some expected to wrap up in April.
Qualifications & Preferences
- PMP certification is preferred; candidates without it should be able to explain why.
- A strong emphasis on education and continuous learning.
- Experience managing projects across Americas and Asia Pacific regions.
- Strong communication skills are critical.
- Leadership Training.
Experience:
- 10 years of experience in IT.
- 7 years in a Scrum Master/Project Manager/Business Analyst role in an Agile environment.
- 5 years in managing a program or portfolio of 10 or more concurrently running projects with multiple senior level business stakeholders providing appropriate metrics.
- 5 years leading ad hoc teams.
Must Have's:
- Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to lead large-scale, complex initiatives while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- People Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience as a people manager, with a track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Strong Business Communication: Ability to act as a trusted partner and advocate for the business, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
