Hardware Test Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Staff Hardware Test Engineer, Power Electronics for for 12 month Contract with the client located in San Rafael, CA 94901, with this position being Onsite.

Pay Rate: $60 - $70/hr; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Description:

Summary: This appears to be much more of a hardware design/CAD-focused test-systems engineering role than a traditional test-execution role. The engineer is responsible for designing, documenting, and building the test equipment itself, not just running tests. Although titled as a test engineering role, this position is heavily focused on the design and development of custom hardware test equipment for EV power electronics (inverters, onboard chargers, DC fast chargers, and PCBAs).

Key requirements/responsibilities:

• Design and develop custom electronic test equipment and automated test stations.
• Design functional test hardware for PCB assemblies (PCBAs).
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and test system documentation.
• Use CAD/electrical design tools such as Altium and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Support fabrication, assembly, and bring-up of custom test equipment.
• Work with automation engineers to integrate automated test solutions.
• Utilize National Instruments PXI/cDAQ platforms, instrumentation, and communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS232, USB, GPIB).
• Troubleshoot failures, perform root-cause analysis, and analyse test data.
• Engineering Degree.
