Electronics Technician/Lab Technician

Akkodis is seeking a – “Electronics Technician/Lab Technician” for a Contract position with a client located in Goleta, CA (Onsite).

Pay Range: $35-38/hr. (The rate/salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.).

Position Overview

As a Lab Technician, you own team efforts for rework, assembly, or testing for a medium or large-sized project, driving outcomes as a key contributor. You contribute to project scoping and managing project priorities, with a high level of independent judgment and discretion within the domain. You act as a subject matter expert in implementing the best course for rework and debugging of assemblies and subassemblies, using schematics and engineering drawing tools.

Responsibilities include:

• Own documentation of test or verification results and test methodologies that are in compliance with internal or external requirements.
• Drive teams to perform complex measurements and use test equipment to debug the vast majority of issues. Debug tests with design engineers to deliver functionally correct design blocks.
• Own procedures to demonstrate product compliance and manage evaluation of test equipment required to verify product performance during qualification tests.
• Drive efforts in evaluating and determining the procurement of test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, testers, microscope, chambers, analyzers, generators, optical debug tools).
• Drive test plans and reviews with engineers and other stakeholders across teams to gather feedback. Contribute to design reviews for testability by supervising experiments and providing recommendations.
• Own audits of validation or performance qualification processes to ensure compliance with internal or regulatory requirements.
• Drive the evolution of test methodologies, and development of new tools and workflows to improve product quality, testing efficiency, and validation processes across functions, based on in-depth knowledge of technology trends and industry state of the art.

Supplemental Job Description

Role Description:

As an electronics team technician, you will leverage expertise in the assembly of mechanical and electrical devices and their testing to reliably assemble everything from bespoke electronics prototypes to production electronics.. You will also leverage strong written and oral communication skills, as well as detail-oriented diligence, to assist client engineering and research staff with everything from soldering PCBs, designing and implementing the test procedures to validate the functionality of the assembled devices, to helping put together electronics test-setups, assisting in data collection, and handling logistics such as equipment inventory and lab organization.

Top Responsibilities:

• Assemble and configure electronics (soldering, wirebonding, and mechanical assembly), fridge wiring configuration, as well as networking test equipment.
• Testing of assembled electrical and mechanical devices to validate proper assembly.
• Gather data using testing procedures designed by electronics team engineers
• Support deployment and operation of technologies developed by the electronics team that serves the greater organization.
• Help maintain organization/operation of lab test equipment and materials including inventory.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 year of experience as an electronics technician
• Experience performing electrical measurements
• Experience with electronics assembly techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate or higher degree in engineering, technology, or related fields
• Experience with more sophisticated electronics test equipment, such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Familiarity with EM and circuit theory at the level of a first year college electricity and magnetism course.
• Experience with and ability to use UNIX-based command-line interfaces
• Ability to analyze data and troubleshoot.
• Ability to manually build an assemble electrical and mechanical devices that involve soldering, wire-bonding, and other wiring form factors.
• Knowledge and experience with common mechanical and electrical tools and units of measurement, e.g. use of a hand-held multi-meter, operation of basic power supplies, use of calipers.
• Proficiency with and ability to learn the use of modern software programs such as google sheets, keysight electronics equipment interfaces.
• Ability to read a schematic and follow documented operations procedures.
