CNC Machinist

Location: St. Louis, MO (100% Onsite)

Job Type: 6-Month Contract / Contract-to-Hire

Shift: Initial training on 1st Shift (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday), then transition to 2nd Shift (2:45 PM – 1:15 AM, Monday–Thursday).

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a precision manufacturing team producing high-quality machined components. This role is ideal for someone with strong CNC machining experience who can independently set up machines, maintain production quality, troubleshoot machining issues, and work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up CNC mills and/or lathes according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret production drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
• Monitor machine performance throughout production and make necessary adjustments.
• Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is kept clean and in good working condition.
• Maintain production schedules while adhering to safety and quality standards.
• Document production activities as required.

Required Qualifications

• 2–4 years of CNC machining experience in a production manufacturing environment, or a technical degree in a related field.
• Experience operating CNC mills, lathes, or both.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings.
• Knowledge of machining tolerances and quality inspection processes.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
• Familiarity with cutting tools including drills, end mills, inserts, and taps.
• Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform shop calculations.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reading and making minor edits to CNC programs.
• Familiarity with G-Code, M-Code, and XYZ coordinate systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience as a CNC Machine Operator with setup experience is also considered.
