What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Marketing Manager position at Akia?
About the Role
We're looking for a Product Marketing Manager who can translate what Akia does into why it matters. You'll own positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy for an AI agent that runs modern hotels and vacation rentals — and you'll do it at a moment when the hospitality industry is waking up to what AI can actually do for them.
This is a foundational PMM hire. You'll work directly with the CEO and senior leadership to define how Akia shows up in the market, arm the sales team with the narratives and materials they need to win, and turn customer outcomes into proof points that move deals forward. You'll be equal parts strategist and executor — comfortable building the playbook and running it yourself.
About Akia
Akia is the system of action for hospitality. She handles guest communication, drives direct bookings, manages upsells, and runs the full guest journey from welcome to welcome back. From slope-side vacation rentals to 500-room oceanfront resorts where every guest expects to feel like the only one, she shows up, learns the property, and gets to work.
We're building the AI agent that runs modern hotels and vacation rentals.
What You'll Do
- Positioning & Messaging: Own how Akia talks about itself — from the website to the pitch deck to the one-liner a sales rep uses on a cold call. Define and maintain the core messaging framework and keep it sharp as the product and market evolve.
- Go-to-Market Strategy: Lead GTM for product launches, feature releases, and new market segments. Coordinate across product, sales, and leadership to make sure launches land with the right audience and the right story.
- Competitive & Market Intelligence: Track the AI and hospitality landscape obsessively. Know what competitors are saying, where the market is heading, and where Akia's differentiation is strongest. Turn that into actionable intel — battlecards, positioning updates, internal briefings.
- Sales Enablement: Give the sales team what they need to close. That means case studies, one-pagers, demo narratives, objection handling guides, and the data to back it all up. Sit close to sales and learn what's working and what isn't.
- Customer Research & Proof Points: Talk to customers regularly. Understand their buying journey, what convinced them, and the results they're seeing. Package that into case studies, ROI narratives, and proof points that make Akia's value concrete.
- Data & Analysis: Pull and leverage data to quantify customer outcomes, validate market trends, and build business cases. You're not afraid of a spreadsheet or a dashboard — you actively seek out numbers to strengthen your narrative.
What We're Looking For
- You've done product marketing before — ideally at a B2B SaaS company selling to a non-technical buyer. Hospitality experience is a bonus but not required.
- You have a genuine curiosity about AI agents and how autonomous systems are reshaping industries. You follow the space because you want to, not because someone told you to.
- You're analytically minded. You instinctively look for the numbers behind the narrative and enjoy pulling insights from data to make your work more credible and compelling.
- You're a clear, sharp writer. Not because you're a content marketer, but because good PMMs have to distill complex products into simple, persuasive language.
- You're comfortable working directly with founders and senior leadership, and you can hold your own in strategic conversations about positioning, pricing, and market entry.
- You thrive with ambiguity and ownership. This is a foundational role — you'll be building processes, not inheriting them.
