This position is a full time, remote job with work flexibility. For operational alignment and collaboration, candidates located in Las Vegas, Portland, or Seattle are preferred.

In this key role, you will apply the principles of electricity, power generation, electrical distribution, lighting, and sustainable power generation to assess and design systems working directly with other team members of Akana to meet our client’s project requirements. Our focus on good client service requires excellent communication, attention to details and cooperative teamwork.


What You’ll Do:

  • Perform electrical equipment site assessments for the purpose of completion of SKM arc flash and fault coordination studies, as well as maintenance needs
  • Development of electrical one-line drawings depicting electrical distribution for facilities
  • Perform Infrared Thermography surveys, including opening electrical panels and cabinets to gain access for surveys.
  • Conduct ASHRAE Level I and 2 Energy Audits and provides recommended energy conservation measures for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Review both electrical and mechanical drawing and specifications for constructability and energy efficiency.
  • Perform commissioning site visits on all types of buildings and power distribution systems, including, lighting, building power distribution, electrical substations, switchgear, switchboards, and power generating equipment. Witness third party start-ups and testing system components.
  • Facilitate functional performance testing of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.


Minimum Required Key Qualifications:

  • Must have 8 years of hands-on electrical experience working in and around building electrical equipment and incoming power supply systems
  • Licensed electrician for low and medium voltage electrical equipment and have, or be able to obtain, a Nevada electrical certification immediately is greatly desired.
  • Direct recent experience in infrared thermography is greatly desired
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) Registrations are a plus!
  • Electrical building or utility power distribution and lighting experience
  • 8 years of field hands-on electrical work experience required
  • Experience in use of SKM software for arc flash and fault coordination studies is a plus
  • Competent in the use of other electrical engineering software a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in renewable energy systems a plus
  • Able to solve problems and troubleshoot as the need arises
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
