Role overview
In this role, you will move materials between production areas and the central warehouse, verify quantities and part numbers, complete inventory transactions, and support receiving, storage, picking, and put-away work.
Core responsibilities
- Unload, move, and store materials, parts, and products.
- Unload incoming materials and verify quantities and part numbers.
- Report shortages or damaged materials and move items to storage areas.
- Move materials between cells, departments, and the central warehouse using routing details, delivery tickets, or orders.
- Fill orders from storage areas and warehouse stock, then deliver materials to designated cells.
- Operate hand trucks, forklifts, stackers, powered lift trucks, and other moving equipment.
- Load outgoing trucks using hand trucks or powered lift equipment.
- Perform inventory transactions accurately in the business system.
- Complete cycle counts as requested.
- Conduct bin maintenance as needed.
- Unload trailers, pick from rack and bin systems, and put materials away using a powered industrial truck.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Inspect work before passing it to the next operation.
- Complete production and quality forms as needed.
- Train others on material handler tasks when needed.
Experience and skills
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience and skill development required.
- 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Previous warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of powered industrial truck or forklift experience.
- Proof of previous forklift certification required.
- Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, stackers, sit-down PIT equipment, and stand-up PIT equipment.
- Ability to pass written and practical powered lift equipment evaluations.
- Ability to read and interpret bills of material.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others to support manufacturing processes.
Physical requirements
- Medium to heavy physical demand level.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally from floor to waist with assistance.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently from floor to waist.
- Ability to carry up to 40 pounds occasionally up to 25 feet.
- Ability to push or pull up to 40 pounds frequently.
- Ability to push or pull more than 40 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Continuous standing and walking.
