What are the responsibilities and job description for the Liquid Asphalt Tanker Technician (Mechanic) position at Ajax Paving Industries?
The Liquid Asphalt Tanker Technician is responsible for maintenance of truck tractors and tanker trailers used for hauling liquid asphalt.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of tractor truck, including tire pressures/rotations, fluid levels, and lights.
- Maintenance of tanker trailer.
- Check all equipment regularly, execute preventative maintenance and communicate deficiencies to Terminal Manager.
- Schedule third party repairs as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping (5S) in shop area.
- Troubleshoot, assessment and the basic repair (i.e. brakes, oil, lube, suspension, etc.) of equipment.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions using diagnostic software.
- Perform emergency field service using company service truck.
- Complete service reports and records
- Track parts charged and returned.
- Maintains service logs
- Meet all safety requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Chauffeur License or ability to obtain Chauffeur License
- Preferred Commercial Driver’s License, Class A, with airbrakes, Tanker and HazMat endorsement
- Be able to communicate effectively
- Preferred basic computer and electronic equipment skills to diagnose and solve mechanical and technical problems.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Experience in maintenance of commercial motor vehicles
- Maintenance of Tankers is preferred
Work Environment/Physical Abilities:
The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. Also, may require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 80 pounds.
