AJ Polymers a division of AJ Met Inc. is a growing plastics recycling and processing company located in Macomb, Michigan. We specialize in plastic resin supply, reprocessing, shredding, grinding, and custom blending for industrial customers across North America.
We are seeking a "hands-on" Plant Supervisor / Lab Technician who can help oversee daily operations while also performing quality testing and material verification in our ASTM lab.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in plastic processing, recycling operations, quality control, and/or polymer testing who wants to grow with a rapidly expanding company.

Responsibilities:
Plant Operations:
- Assist in supervising daily plant operations including blending, grinding, and material processing.
- Coordinate production workflow and ensure efficient plant throughput.
- Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance needs.
- Maintain safe and organized work areas.
- Assist with training and supervising plant employees.
- Help manage incoming plastic scrap and outgoing finished materials.
- Identify bottlenecks, analyze root causes of defects, and lead initiatives to reduce scrap and improve efficiency.
- Maintain detailed production reports, audit data, and quality records.
- Schedule outbound and inbound loads with customers and Logistic companies.
Lab & Quality Control:
- Perform ASTM testing on plastic materials including density, melt flow, and other resin properties.
- Inspect incoming materials and verify quality specifications.
- Maintain lab equipment and testing records.
- Assist with material identification and sorting.
- Document testing results and maintain quality reports.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers on material quality and provide all documents necessary.
- Audit production lines, inspect material quality (incoming and finished), and ensure compliance with ISO, and other quality standards.
Requirements
- Experience in plant supervisor, plastic recycling, lab technician, or polymer processing preferred
- Strong team building, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong experience in Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Ability to supervise plant employees and coordinate workflow.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Ability to work in an fast pace, industrial environment.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
