What You’ll Do
- Final review and approval of all estimates, budgets, and CORs- ensuring department-wide consistency, pricing accuracy, and adherence to company standards.
- Manage a high volume of bids while maintaining precision and efficiency
- Lead or provide input on complex negotiations by presenting complete, well-documented proposals.
- Resolve complex bid issues, scope discrepancies, and estimation errors in collaboration with GCs and internal teams
- Take ownership of urgent estimating needs, including quick turnaround budgets and salvaging time-sensitive bids initiated by others.
- Maintain and adjust the bid calendar to reflect shifting priorities, resource availability, and project urgency.
- Provide strategic input with estimating decisions, including determining which opportunities to pursue.
- Analyze historical pricing to ensure current proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with established cost trends and margin goals.
- Support internal team members by answering questions or directing them to the appropriate resources.
- Meet hard deadlines- even if it occasionally requires extended working hours.
- 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably with a focus on glazing systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is a plus, but we also highly value hands on experience.
- Strong command of curtainwall, storefront, thermal systems, specialty glass, and related materials.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
- Skilled in bid negotiation, GC communication, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to lead through example while serving as a resource and mentor for junior team members.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills- capable of maintaining and adjusting a fluid bid calendar.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, and familiarity with platforms such as Procore.
- Majority of the position is performed in an office setting, sitting or standing at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to attend occasional site visits and scheduled site walks on active construction sites, which may involve walking or standing, limited ladder use, and normal working conditions.
- Occasional lifting of light materials (up to 25 pounds), such as plans or samples.
