This position is part of our AboveAir Technologies team in Frederick, MD. AboveAir Technologies is a market leader in providing highly configured HVAC solutions that span the data center market (on-prem, colocation, and hyperscale).
Role Description The Buyer is a full-time, on-site role based in Frederick, MD, responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, components, and equipment needed for AboveAir Technologies' operations. Day-to-day tasks include issuing purchase orders, maintaining accurate purchasing records, and monitoring inventory levels to avoid stock-outs and overstock situations. The Buyer will evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and build strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality. This role collaborates closely with operations, warehouse, and finance teams to forecast demand, align purchasing with project schedules, and resolve any delivery or quality issues. The Buyer also analyzes purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and supports continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems.
Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing or supply chain, including issuing purchase orders, managing inventory, and coordinating deliveries.
- Skills in vendor management, including evaluating suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, and maintaining positive, professional relationships.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret reports, and use ERP, MRP, or purchasing systems to support decision-making and process efficiency.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Experience in purchasing in a high mix manufacturing environment and a willingness to learn technical product details. HVAC equipment manufacturing experience is preffered.
- Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, email).
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
