Position Title: Part-time Clinical Supervisor (4-6 hours/week)
Reports to CEO and Clinical Director
Overview:
Airport Marina Counseling Service (AMCS), a non-profit, community mental health clinic, has a part-time supervisory position available for a licensed clinician (Psychologist/LMFT/LCSW) to join our professional team. We have been serving its mission for over 65 years: to offer accessible and inclusive mental health services to the community and to provide quality training to pre-licensed therapists. AMCS is known in the community for the quality of our services and has a reputation among academic programs for providing remarkable training in psychodynamic therapy. AMCS is seeking a clinical supervisor who is an engaging supervisory group facilitator with a particular expertise in teaching supervisees how to conduct initial consultations with clients, which includes: conducting a clinical interview, assessing history and symptoms, fee setting, diagnosing and professional report writing.
Clinical Responsibilities:
· Facilitating a weekly supervision group with no more than eight pre-licensed therapists.
· Teach clinical interviewing and diagnostic skills using DSM5-TR to inform the treatment plan.
· Work with supervisees to assess and determine if the needs of clients are best met by AMCS or a referral.
· Teach training therapists to assess for potential safety, legal, and ethical issues.
· Assist supervisees with learning how to balance a clinical interview with a therapeutic and empathic stance.
Administrative Responsibilities:
· Review and approve clinical documentation for professionalism, quality and accuracy.
· Review client files for completion and readiness for services.
· Evaluate skill development of training therapists.
· Monitor supervisee’s compliance with policies and procedures of AMCS.
· Provide feedback to therapists, including evaluations and communications with their universities.
· Attend monthly Supervisor’s Meetings held the first Weds. of every month from noon-2pm (in-person with virtual option)
· Assist with interviewing applicants to the AMCS program
Requirements:
· Active California license in good standing: Psychologists, LMFT or LCSW.
· Minimum of three years post-licensure experience.
· Strong background in clinical interviewing and diagnostic skills.
· Ability to provide feedback in a diplomatic manner.
· Must have completed the supervisor’s training class before supervising.
Supervision is currently held virtually on Mondays from 5-7 pm, however the time may be flexible. Administrative duties may be completed either on-site or remotely. Pay is commensurate with non-profit community clinics.
Volunteer supervisors are also welcome.
