Qualifications:

  • Achieved, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree; Master's preferred
  • Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsements in English (BA), Reading (BR) or Special Education
  • Five years of successful teaching experience required
  • LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) required or must enroll within six months of employment
  • Coaching experience or specialized training in facilitating adult learners required
  • Evidence of good interpersonal skills with colleagues
  • Willingness to learn, acquire, and apply new skills and knowledge
  • Evidence of adaptability and problem-solving skills

 

Essential Functions and Duties

 

1. Performance Responsibilities

    • Povide coaching, professional development, and district-wide Reading and Writing initiatives support for instructional staff.  
    • Assist in developing and administering screening assessments for high school students identified as reading deficient, in accordance with the Michigan Dyslexia Law.
    • Assist in developing and implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions for high school students identified as reading deficient, as required by the Michigan Dyslexia Law.
    • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Reading Improvement Plans (IRIPs) for high school students who qualify for individualized reading intervention under the Michigan Dyslexia Law.
    • Assist in designing and delivering differentiated instruction and intensive reading interventions to meet the individual needs of high school students identified as reading deficient.
    • Work with districts assessing needs and integrating multi-tiered systems of support for K-12 literacy, including supporting building-level teams in the analysis of data.
    • Assist the Monroe County Intermediate School District Literacy Coaches for the development and delivery of professional development related to research-based literacy strategies and interventions for teachers of grades K-12.
    • Co-facilitate district literacy initiatives with the Monroe County Intermediate School District's Literacy Coaches.  
    • Participate in school improvement activities focused on improving instructional practices as evidenced by student outcomes in Grades K-12.
    • Assist building principals and classroom teachers with the implementation of research-based instructional practices, including the process of data analysis, evaluation, and improvement, specifically in the areas of Reading and Writing.
    • Provide consulting and coordinate activities related to literacy curriculum, instruction, assessment, and coaching frameworks and principles.

Funding Statement

Please note that this position is supported either partially or fully through grant funding. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the ongoing availability and renewal of these funds. If the grant funding is reduced, discontinued, or eliminated, this position may be reduced or eliminated accordingly.

Salary : $71,500 - $86,500
