Reports to:

Athletic Director 

 

Qualifications:

  • Achieved, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Achieved Athletic Trainer certification through Board of Certification Inc. (BOC)
  • Holds a valid Michigan Athletic Trainer License 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
  • Must have essential technology skills (i.e. laptop, assistive communication devices/technology, and other educational technology and software)

Essential Functions and Duties

 

1. Performance Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for injury prevention programming for coaches and athletes.
  • Provide care for injured athletes and assess the need for additional care such as EMS or follow-up with a physician.
  • Responsible for communication with parents, health care providers and staff (as permitted by HIPPA).
  • Documentation of injuries and treatment including required MHSAA Concussion Reporting.
  • Carries out appropriate instructions, treatment and rehabilitation as directed by the supervising Physician, when necessary.
  • Assists and advises coaches in the appropriate fit and use of safety equipment.
  • Responsible for the organization, inventory, and requisition (through the AD) of training room supplies.
  • Must be present at all designated contests and practices as coordinated with the AD.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the athletic director or principal.
  • Collaborate with AD to ensure safe practice and competition environments-including the development of an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for each sport and venue
  • Make parent/guardian phone calls

  • Maintain certification and endorsement renewals timely
