Job Duties:
- Commission and start up HVAC control systems, including air handlers, rooftop units, chillers, boilers, VAVs, fan coils, heat pumps, and terminal units
- Perform point‑to‑point verification, I/O checkout, and functional testing of HVAC devices
- Validate sequences of operation against control drawings and specifications
- Load, modify, and troubleshoot BAS controller, HMI, and supervisory programming
- Set up and verify sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, and safeties
- Tune control loops (PID) for temperature, pressure, airflow, and humidity control
- Verify VFD operation, parameters, and interlocks
- Troubleshoot electrical, control, and communication issues during start‑up
- Coordinate with electricians, mechanical contractors, TAB contractors, and engineers
- Support system integration testing and customer acceptance
- Document deficiencies, corrections, and final performance results
- Assist with operator training and system turnover documentation
- Follow all jobsite safety procedures and HVAC best practices
Requirements:
- Technical degree, certification, or equivalent hands‑on HVAC/controls experience
- 2 years of HVAC controls startup or commissioning experience
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategies
- Experience with BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Schneider)
- Ability to read HVAC control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Knowledge of HVAC safety practices and electrical fundamentals
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work extended hours during start‑up phases
