I&E Technician

Carrier Gas Operations provides on-site air separation units producing nitrogen and oxygen gas production with best-in-class safety, reliability, flexibility and total cost of operation to our semiconductor manufacturing customers. Also supplying cost effective high purity bulk gas.

The SM1 Gas Plant I&E technician is responsible for the upkeep of instrumentation at the plant facility including valves, transmitters, PLCs, analyzers, etc including troubleshooting, repair, testing, project management, and preventative maintenance.

• Work to achieve a goal of zero personal first aids/injuries through shared vigilance.

• Comply with all Air Liquide Policies & Procedures.

• Comply with Safe Work Permit Process including preparing Pre-Job Plans, executing LOTOs, hot work safety, and confined space safety.

• Coordinate preventative maintenance for site instrumentation, such as calibrations, including maintaining records in the CMMS program.

• Resolve and maintain instrumentation equipment, taking proactive and preventative actions to improve plant or machine performance.

• Read and interpret instruments' schematics to ensure operational excellence.

• Maintain and support various analytical instrumentation and equipment such as Valco and Orthodyne PDHID and FID detectors, and various real-time gas analyzers.

• Oversee instrumentation projects from scoping to implementation, including preparing the scope of work, bidding out projects to contractors, scheduling, and supporting contractor quality of work.

• Establish and maintain an analytical & instrumentation inventory tracking program.

• Ideally, you bring an instrumentation and mechanical aptitude to the team.

• Read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and controls documentation; perform basic math operations.

• Draft and redline standard operating procedures to ensure team alignment.

• Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies.

• Bring a proficient knowledge of control board and operator interface computer consoles.

• Participate in plant outages as a key contributor to the team.

• Foster and maintain high housekeeping and organizational standards.

• Collaborate with other maintenance crafts as needed to support site goals.

• Share proficiency in plant operations and participate in cross-functional training opportunities.

• Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Management to support the collective success of the facility.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Associates degree preferred

• 6 years of technical training and/or operations experience, combined.

• Familiar with terminology and technical knowledge of equipment such as transmitters, PLCs, analyzers, and valves. Gas Chromatography a plus

• Familiar with safe work practices, safety procedures and other safety requirements.

• Familiar with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications

• Demonstrate proficiency in Windows computer operations

• Ability to draw and read electrical and PLC diagrams.

• Ability to work on call, callouts, nights, weekends, & possible holidays

• Able to safely work on electrical equipment up to 480V.

• Valid Driver's License

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing

• Full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms/surfaces up to 80ft

• Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods

• Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing and work
