Major Duties:
In this role, you will:
- Lead AFRL’s history and archives program, establishing policies, procedures, and long‑term strategies.
- Research, write, and produce the AFRL annual history and special historical studies.
- Conduct deep historical analysis to support leadership decision‑making and strategic communication.
- Collect, preserve, and manage historical documents, multimedia, and artifacts that capture AFRL’s scientific and technological heritage.
- Maintain and expand AFRL’s digital and physical historical collections.
- Develop exhibits, displays, presentations, and educational materials that bring AFRL’s story to life.
- Represent AFRL at professional conferences, symposia, and interagency meetings.
- Collaborate across mission organizations to document enterprise achievements and integrate historical context into strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (DR‑03/GS‑14 for DR‑04), or equivalent experience in other pay systems
- Applicants are required to meet all OPM Qualification Standard requirements for the applicable occupational series and grade.
- Expert knowledge of military, scientific, or technological history.
- Strong researcher and analytical thinker who can synthesize complex information.
- Writes clearly, compellingly, and with scholarly rigor.
