In this position you will serve as the principal authority and subject matter expert on a multi-functional security program, directing all matters involving the integrity, protection, use, dissemination, and authorized destruction of classified information in support of national security. In this capacity, they plan and manage a comprehensive security program to identify vulnerabilities, project deficiencies, and implement corrective actions, while providing strategic and technical security advice to all levels of leadership. Working as a core member of the security management team, they implement industrial security policies for highly classified programs, translating service-level security requirements into contractual commitments, collaborating closely with defense contractors, and conducting compliance reviews of contractor facilities, personnel security, and threat assessments. Additionally, the incumbent exercises independent judgment to control the information security program, advising the Commander/Director and staff on integrating national and service-level security policies into program management, conducting vulnerability assessments, and representing the unit at joint security conferences.

The security portfolio further encompasses the administration of personnel security, physical security, and operations security (OPSEC) programs. The incumbent establishes local procedures to process background investigations and security clearances for military and civilian personnel, carefully evaluating position sensitivity and access requirements while screening completed clearance packages for adverse or derogatory information. They also maintain critical liaison with local, state, federal, and Department of Defense agencies to secure facilities, recommending physical security hardware and advanced intrusion detection systems to control facility access. Finally, the incumbent designs and delivers initial, semi-annual, and annual security education and OPSEC training tailored to unit-specific operational risks, and conducts official inquiries into reported security incidents to determine if classified compromise or loss occurred, supporting subsequent investigations as required.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Obtain & maintain a Security clearance
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
  • This position is a designated National Security Position.
  • The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

Recruitment Knowledge Skills And Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of information, personnel, physical, industrial, communications and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security in these areas.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
  • Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
  • Ability to establish effective, professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
