We are a well-established regional law firm seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join our Houston, TX office. This opportunity is open to attorneys interested in a partnership-track position as well as experienced lateral attorneys seeking either full-time or part-time schedules. Our firm provides a collaborative environment where attorneys work closely with sophisticated clients on complex energy transactions and title matters while enjoying meaningful opportunities for professional growth.
We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 3 years of experience in oil and gas law, mineral title, energy transactions, property law, or related regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting Texas oil and gas title opinions, advising clients on upstream energy matters, and supporting complex transactional and operational projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct mineral title examinations and prepare leasehold and drilling title opinions.
  • Provide legal support for upstream oil and gas transactions, including due diligence, title review, and curative matters.
  • Assist with large-scale mineral acquisition projects, mineral leasing programs, and surface use agreements.
  • Draft and negotiate joint operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, farm-in and farm-out agreements, conveyances, servitudes, and other energy-related contracts.
  • Prepare title opinions and transactional documentation while advising clients on risk assessment and title-related issues.
  • Support carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects, including sequestration agreements, servitudes, leasing arrangements, and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with clients, landmen, in-house counsel, and regulatory agencies to facilitate energy development and operational objectives.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in oil and gas law, mineral title, energy transactions, property law, or related practice areas.
  • Experience drafting oil and gas title opinions, preferably involving Texas mineral law.
  • Strong understanding of Texas mineral ownership, title examination, and upstream energy operations.
  • Experience handling due diligence, title curative work, and transactional support for energy-related matters.
  • Knowledge of CCUS projects, carbon sequestration issues, or related regulatory frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, research, drafting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines while providing exceptional client service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
