Building Engineer – Class A Commercial Office (Direct Hire)
Location: Denver Tech Center (Greenwood Village, CO) | On-site
Compensation: $85,000 – $95,000 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30am – 3:30pm, plus after-hours on-call
About the Opportunity
AimHire is partnering with a well-established real estate investment and development firm to find a Building Engineer for two Class A office properties in the Denver Tech Center. Our client is active across all major property classes and is known for its hands-on, collaborative team and its commitment to high-quality, well-run assets. This is a strong fit for a mid-level engineer who has moved beyond entry level and wants more ownership, but isn't looking for a chief engineer role just yet.
What You'll Do
You'll be the primary on-site engineer for two Class A buildings, splitting your time between a main property and a second nearby property (roughly 60–70% at the main site). Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you'll keep building systems running safely and efficiently, and you'll be the first point of contact when something comes up.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Work hands-on with both pneumatic and DDC controls, as well as cooling tower and rooftop unit (RTU) systems
- Perform routine inspections and carry out preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Respond to tenant service requests quickly and professionally
- Review construction drawings from a mechanical and plumbing standpoint
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors, including supervising after-hours work
- Keep accurate maintenance records and work orders
- Support facility improvement projects and take part in weekly team meetings
- Serve as first responder for after-hours issues, and arrange coverage with the engineering team when you're out
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of building engineering or commercial maintenance experience (closer to 5 preferred)
- Hands-on experience with both pneumatic and DDC HVAC systems
- Working knowledge of cooling towers and RTUs
- Solid mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general repair skills
- Ability to read technical manuals, building plans, construction drawings, and schematics
- Comfort with work order systems, documentation, and email
- A polished, responsive, customer-service mindset suited to a Class A environment
- A "roll up your sleeves" attitude: you dig into a problem before calling a vendor, but you know when to escalate
- Clear communication with property management, tenants, and contractors
- Ability to lift moderate weight, work on ladders, and handle physical tasks safely
- A degree or formal certifications are not required. Relevant HVAC or building engineering training is a plus, but proven hands-on skill matters most.
